Movie Star Month at Gingersnap Creations and a Blog Candy Alert

The theme this month at Gingersnap Creations is "Movie Stars." This was a fun one... putting together a pirate-themed card around a pic of my favorite hunk, Orlando Bloom, a.k.a. Will Turner from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Oh, how the whole family loves these movies... this card will probably go to one of my kids!

I didn't have any stamps of movie stars... you know, those elegant Audrey Hepburn stamps, the Marilyn, the fun Charlie Chaplan. So I winged it with a Will Turner scan from my Pirates calendar (got it from the kids this past Christmas), and some pirate-themed stamping. The map is from Tin Can Mail, the pirate flag from Inkadinkado, the ship from Anita's, and the text from Stampington. The paper with the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is a Karen Foster design. I added some "treasure" coins from Oriental Trading Co., a vintage rusty key (Davy Jones locker, anyone?), and some suede cord. So you see, no special movie star stamps are required. You can create a project based on your favorite movie, if you'd like. And.....

The Gingersnap Creations Blog has Blog Candy!
Stampsmith has generously provided the prize of a fabulous unmounted single stamp for each challenge announced in September. To qualify for a chance to win, all you have to do is participate in the challenge by posting your creation to your blog or online gallery, mention the specific challenge (and if possible link to it), and then go to Gingersnap Creations and comment on the challenge post with a permanent link to your creation (i.e., a link to your specific post not just to your blog). To see the current challenges, just look along the left-hand side bar, and click on the italics to go directly to the challenge post. Good luck and happy creating!

This is so much fun, Jean. And I love how creative you were without movie star stamps - way to go. And you chose a real hottie, so what's not to love!!

Great piece. We will get on just fine, I'll take Johnny or Captain Jack. However I think he may well smell less than delightful with the character he portrays in Pirates of the Caribbean.

This card is fantastic, Jean! He is a hunk, isn't he? This is very well designed. I like everything about it. (And thanks again, for telling me about this challenge.)
