While blurfing today, I came across a great inspiration challenge at
Stamping Around. The photo inspiration was this catalog cover for Land's End, and the instant I saw it, I knew I'd have to play along. So I dug out a Stampin' Up! set that hasn't seen ink in centuries, and went to work with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. I stamped my roses, cut them out, and distressed them with Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress Inks. I aged my white twill ribbon (
www.twilltape.com) with Antique Linen as well, then attached it and some burlap using my sewing machine and a straight stitch all around the edges. I thought the burlap echoed the texture of the basket - it's a fun accent to play with, but can get unruly unless you sew it down!
I decided to shabby it up even more with some Tattered Rose Crackle paint along the edges; after it dried, I went back in and smudged some coral ink over it to give it more "oomph."
I also used some Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint and some Dazzling Diamonds to pretty up the flowers a bit. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin.

I just love, love, love photo inspiration challenges. I made this card for Stamping Around's SA05 Waltzingmouse Inspiration Challenge. To the right is the fabulously inspiring photo from Anya. It makes me want to have a glorious spring brunch with all the fine china. Actually, it makes me want to hit the flea markets and find lots of shabby chic, mismatched china pieces to add to my collection! For my focal image, I used the Freesia stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms, a sentiment from Studio G, and Memento inks and coordinating markers. I colored some Hero Arts Art Flowers with the Memento markers to get a good match. The background papers are from Basic Grey's Wisteria and Kioshi collections - cut into strips and stitched on, then shabby-ed up and distressed with Distress Ink in milled lavender, antique linen, and dusty concord. I added a little aqua tulle for some extra springy-ness, and to echo the blue ribbon on the package. This challenge was loads of fun. Hope you're having a happy weekend!
