Finally got a teeny amount of time to play.... these past, oh what is it now.... 3 weeks?... have been crazy with kid activities. Overlapping sporting events, middle school open houses, concerts, recitals, and now two Saturdays of snow make-up classes. Sheesh. Okay, I'm done... on to the tag. :)
Louise's challenge over at Kard Krazy this week is to use GLITTER on our tags for Tag Tuesday #49. Hooooo what fun! Of course, I can never really get glitter photographed properly, so you'll have to take my word for it when I say it's on the ruffles of her dress, her bracelet, her earring, and her hair comb. The background is shimmery glitter mists... it sorta looks like twilight IRL. The lovely lady is from the Queen of Tarts No. 7 set by Character Constructions, which is available at Stampington. The background gate is also from Stampington (unmounted). The teensy bluebird is from the Fairy Sweets set at Oxford Impressions.
Okay, I'm off to grocery shop and get ready for our dueling intensive volleyball clinic (5:30 to 8:45) and baseball game (8:10 to 9:30). I'm not seein' any crafting time in my evening... hope you all have a good one!

Crafting with Kraft at Gingersnap Creations
The new color challenge over at Gingersnap Creations is KRAFT! I've been using kraft more and more lately. I particularly love juxtaposing kraft with the "finer" things in crafting, like rhinestones and silk - the combo of "pretty" and "rustic" just floats my boat, LOL! For this card, I white-embossed a bunch of images around the perimeter of a kraft card base. On top, I layered a bird image (Artistic Outpost) on top of old text and robin's egg blue paper. For the background of the image, I tried out my new Glimmer mist colors (a combo of greens, blues, and pinks), so it has a shimmery effect in real life. I finished off the layers with a little silk ribbon, some teensy rhinestones, and a swirly paper-punched border.
If you like crafting with kraft, there are a bunch of fabulous examples over on the blog, so you'll want to check them out. For all you scrapbookers...there are some great scrapbook layouts on kraft, too..... :)

Fairy ATC
A quick little post today.... I've made these little Artistic Outpost girls into fairies again, this time for our ATC club, where the theme was "Green." It was left open to interpretation whether this meant the color, or the whole "recycling" idea, so I did some of both. The wings are clipart from Dover, with some Rock Candy Stickles that don't show up in the photo (of course!). The background is a botanical that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and adhered to some old French text. There's a little of 7 Gypsies' gaffer tape across the bottom. Then I searched through a falling-apart edition of Little Women to find phrases that I could use with these gals.... this one was my favorite! Hope you're having a great Monday!

Greeting Card Blitz
I've been on a greeting card blitz. Our ATC club has morphed into a mixed media club, and this week we exchanged greeting cards. Way back in December, we exchanged decorated boxes containing lots of little supplies, embellishments, found objects, papers, ribbons... anything that we had a surplus of and could share. We were to use the contents of these boxes on our greeting cards to swap. I further resolved to use only papers from my scrap box (this included patterned papers and previously stamped background pieces). I also tried to use up some of those images that I had stamped and never used, but saved for "later." It was seriously fun! I'm just going to post them without further comment... if you have a question about sources, feel free to email me. Have a great Friday!

Country Charm
It's release day on the farm... Cornish Heritage Farms, that is. A new set from their ATC Collection debuts, called Country Charm Textures. Let me 'splain.... The All Things Considered line, as some of you know, specializes in images that are perfectly sized for ATCs, twinchies, inchies, that sort of thing, but of course, it can all be used on cards and scrapbook pages as well. This release is all about SCALE.... scaling down some of CHF's fabulous Backgrounders so that they don't overpower our smaller creations. So, this set features the Cracked Montana Earth background and the Woodgrain background, scaled down to an ATC size of 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. (The full-sized Backgrounders are 4 1/2 by 5 3/4 inches). Here's a tiny look at the set so you can see what I'm talking about.
So, in the picture above is an example of an ATC and a twinchie I made using this set. The crackled background is perfect for these delicate images. (I also used it for the card in THIS post.) The ATC uses images from the Sweet Bee set, and the twinchie uses stamps from the Botanical Bliss set.
For the card below, I've used all four images... the crackle gives my sheep some woolly texture, and I've used the woodgrain for both the background and the sign. (Sources: the sheep is HERE, and the sign outline is part of THIS SET). That center image collage is ATC-sized.
Hope these will be useful to you for all of your tiny art creations! CHF also has a special going on for its cling-mount sets... if you buy three (or more!), CHF will do the cutting for you for FREE! (Through April 22). :)

Tag Tuesday's Inspire Me
My blogging friend Shar refers to this as a Queen of the Last Minute type of creation, LOL!! Yes, once again it's Tag Tuesday on Monday. The challenge this week (until tomorrow) is Inspire Me! - to use a quote or word that we find inspiring. I loved this Thoreau quote from Serendipity Stamps the moment I saw it (and I've just noticed, it's on sale, 20% off, through today!). A sort of "Carpe Diem" type of sentiment I suppose, but it reminds me not to "wish my life away" looking forward in time, but rather to enjoy what the moment has to offer. The tag is misted with a couple of Glimmer Mists, stamped with some seasonal images, and dressed up with some Hero Arts flowers and some leaf diecuts. And tied off with crinkly seam binding from Bluebird Lane Etsy shop, of course. Be sure to check out the other artwork done for this challenge on Kard Krazy - it is very truly inspiring, in more ways than one! And while you're there, congratulate Louise on all of her stunning work that has gone to publication at Stampington! :) Hope your Monday is a happy one!

Rockabye - A Little Double Dippin'
I don't normally combine challenges, but these two challenges went together so beautifully I just couldn't resist. Over at The Shabby Tea Room, the Week #5 challenge is It's Hip To Be Square, and they have this lovely baby quilt as their inspiration photo. Over at Our Creative Corner Weekly Sketch Challenge, they have this wonderfully square-filled sketch for OCCSC #11. A match made in heaven, I think!
My sweet little baby image is from Cornish Heritage Farms' Baby Dear stamp set, along with the "Down Lullaby Lane" sentiment from their Vintage Baby Expressions set. I colored the image with Copics to match my patterned papers, which are from GCD Studios Melody Ross Homespun Chic collection (some fabulous blog candy I received from the lovely Julie of Julie's Open Window). I tied up this little vignette with some Martha Stewart ribbon, and added some glittered chipboard doves, also from the Melody Ross collection. A little Cuttlebug embossing and zigzag stitching is going on behind the scenes.
Hope you are all having a beautiful weekend. I'm going to go out and enjoy the sunny Carolina blue skies. :)

Play Date Cafe Challenge #25
The challenge this week over at The Play Date Cafe is another color splash challenge - we are to use black and white with a splash of orange. Aahhh, that makes a mind like mine turn to thoughts of Halloween... but I didn't want to rush the season, at least not that much, LOL! So I turned to Marie's Freebies to find a lovely vintage black and white photo that I could colorize. I colored only her costume with orangey Copics. I used my new favorite edge punch, "Swirl" from EK Success, to give some detail to an orange border, and added a few orange rhinestones for accent. The butterfly is from Graphic 45's Bontanicabella paper, and the lovely silk ribbon is May Arts from Ellen Hutson's shop. My background stamp is Bella Toile from Stampin! Up.
We have lots of kids' sporting events to attend this weekend (after a week of sports practices and chorus concerts... I'm running on fumes - but it's ALL GOOD!). Hope you're all having a great weekend!

Text Me
I don't text. Now you know how old I am (or... how old I'm not), LOL!!! This is as close as I come - making a card set from Cornish Heritage Farms' Life Scrapblock, which releases today. I love to use text on projects, be it vintage book pages, single words, or as in this case, as a graphic element. I also love shabby and vintage styles, so I set out to make a set of cards that incorporated the graphic element of this Scrapblock into a shabby chic feel. All of the stamps used for these cards are from Cornish Heritage Farms, and I mixed and matched Backgrounders/Scrapblocks to use as my "patterned" papers: Life, Vintage Chintz, and Vintage Text. The butterflies are from the Vintage Butterflies set from the Saturday Evening Post collection. I already showed you one of the cards individually in this post, so here are the others:
Lots of great words and phrases that you can use individually in this stamp, too. You can see lots more samples HERE in the gallery. Thanks for stopping by!
And lastly, a little pic of the Life Scrapblock in it's entirety:

Found Objects at Gingersnap Creations
The new challenge today over at Gingersnap Creations is to use found objects in your project, to go along with this month's theme of the Good Earth. I had so much fun with this, as it was my first time making a fairy jar (actually, I think of it as a Bird Fairy Jar). As most of you know, this is not an original idea - lots of crafters out there have been making variations on this theme, but it was new to me and oh-so-much-fun. My son had discovered two egg shells that were in pretty good shape last spring, as well as a nest that had been blown out of a tree during a windy day last fall. I've kept them, not really knowing what to do with them. Enter the Found Objects challenge.....
I started out with a spaghetti jar, and layered the bottom with strips of the blue pages from an old phone book, cut up with pinking shears. Next I stuffed in some flowers from a big box bloom and some torn strips of vintage sheet music I had used in another project.
Then came my little nest and the egg shells (probably not from the same species of bird, but seriously, no one will ever know... ssshhhh)..
I stamped the image of the two girls from Artistic Outpost's Birds of a Feather collection, colored them with Copics, then glued on some maple tree seed pods as their wings. I used a bamboo skewer to stand them up on the edge of the nest.
A few more little details: the green "Handcrafted in Small Batches" sentiment is actually from the spaghetti sauce label. The butterflies are clear stickers from GCD Studios Melody Ross Artsy Urban collection. (Sorry for the glare in these pictures.. even my new bounce flash was giving me fits. Operator error....)
Also from the same Melody Ross collection is the large bird sticker, which I put on the back of the jar. I thought it would look neat, the "mama bird" guarding the nest as the fairies visited, plus add visual interest to the less interesting side! Going around the entire bottom of the jar is an ancient PSX sticker with fairy quotes... a little hard to see, but I wanted it to be subtle.
For now I've just put some twine around the top to hang it in a window, but I think eventually I will paint the lid of the jar and close it up so that it doesn't get too dusty.
You can check out the rest of the design team's Found Object projects over at the Gingersnap Creations blog. Lots of different, varied creations, and they're all beautiful and inspiring. :) I hope you'll play along with us on this one.... see what creative things you can do with stuff you might normally pass by.
An interesting side note.... I noticed that my little birdie nest-builder did the same thing... she used found objects to build her nest. In this case, it was a piece of green plastic netting that my landscaper used to try to keep new grass seed from washing away. It really hit home to me how much everything we discard, even unintentionally or unknowingly, affects the nature around us. Something to think about. :)

The Shabby Tea Room Week #4
I'm so glad I finally got to play in The Shabby Tea Room's challenge this week, because it involves one of my very favorite color schemes - whites and creams. The challenge for Week #4 is "Embrace the White" - to create a card or project using mainly white or cream and one other subtle color. This lovely inspiration photo was the jumping off point. For my card, I knew I wanted to use lots of vintage goodies, so I started out using some vintage sheet music that I received as a RAK from Louise at Kard Krazy some time ago, layered onto a panel of my "subtle color" (blue). Next came some gathered and aged crepe paper. My butterfly is from Tattered Angels, shabbied up with some distress ink and prettied with some clear glass glitter. I used some white hydrangea blooms off of a big box store stem, centered with a Basic Grey brad.
The teeny tiny sentiment is from the Botanical Bliss set by Cornish Heritage Farms. I love that their ATC line (All Things Considered) has these lovely small-scale sentiments - perfect for a tiny tag. Some vintage lace "antennae" and three vintage mother of pearl buttons finish it off. Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, with some time to play!

A Sneak Peek at Life
The new "Life" Scrapblock from Cornish Heritage Farms, that is.... releasing Friday, April 16. Those of you who get the newsletter will have already seen this card, which has lots of Cornish Heritage Farms goodness on it. The background and the "dream" are from the new Scrapblock. I also used the Beautiful, Ornamental Beauty, and Vintage Butterflies sets, along with the Vintage Chintz backgrounder. Text is so hot in the papercrafting industry right now, and this particular stamp has lots of great words and phrases that you can use individually for your cards and scrapbooks, as well as together for a more graphic look. I'll show you the rest of the cards as the week goes on. Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #24
Great minds, as they say, think alike, LOL! :) I was just finishing up this card and decided to check out The Play Date Cafe before bedtime.... and wouldn't you know, it fit the color challenge perfectly!! The gorgeous inspiration photo for this week's challenge has colors of plum, lavender, and cream. Simply luscious! For this card, I used Cornish Heritage Farms' Botanical Bliss set from the All Things Considered line. I colored the poppy with Copics, and added a little 7 Gypsies chipboard flourish under the focal point. I cut the clock from the stamp set into quarters to use as "photo corners." The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye's "Carefree" line... I've been hoarding it, I love it so much! And, there's something a little sneaky about this card, but I can't tell you what for another week or so. ;) Stay tuned.....

Play Date Cafe Challenge #23
Coming in just under the wire with this one! The challenge at The Play Date Cafe this week is to work with this gorgeous inspiration picture of wonderful blues. I decided to BOA - bring out the ancient! The papers are from K and Co. and Laura Ashley (the printed vellum). Seriously old - using up that stash! The stamps are from Cornish Heritage Farms - Vintage Chintz backgrounder and Beautiful. I added a little Rock Candy Stickles and Diamond Dust to the butterfly to bring some sparkle, and scrunched up some blue ribbon by pulling and gathering it along the twine that ran down its center. Nothing too complicated, really. A very fun challenge, since it's my favorite color! :) Take a look at all the wonderful creations this week at The Play Date Cafe... the design team have really outdone themselves with their beautiful blues.

Tag Tuesday Sketch
The Tag Tuesday challenge this week at Kard Krazy is to use a Sketch, a fun one that Louise provided. I haven't gotten a chance to craft in several days, and it was so much fun to jump back into it with this challenge. I used my brand new Ferris wheel stamp from Paper Artsy, along with a bunch of stamps from Artistic Outpost's Paris Exposition plate. The little balloon is underneath a Fragment from Tim Holtz' Idea-ology line.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Easter holiday (if that's what you observe, of course :)). I'm hoping to get crafty lots more this week... there are some wonderful challenges going on at Gingersnap Creations, The Play Date Cafe, and The Shabby Tea Room that I'm just itchin' to try, and of course, I'll be working with some fun new Cornish Heritage Farms releases. Thanks for stopping by!

Shabby Tea Room Week #3 - Get Scrappy!
No new sheets of patterned paper were harmed in the making of this card. Seriously. This is a 100% pure scrap-made card! The challenge over at The Shabby Tea Room this week is "Let's Get Scrappy." Oh, how fun and liberating it is to make yourself work from your scrap box!! C'mon, you know we all have them... hoards of little scraps of beautiful patterned papers that we just can't bear to part with. I take that one step further... I have a box of stamped images and leftover bits of "techniqued" papers that I save. Usually they are the result of my stamping too many images for a project, or I stamp on ivory and decide I really should have stamped on white, etc. Sometimes I try out a technique and either don't use the entire piece or decide to go with different colors, for example. I save all of these misfit scraps, and today, I finally actually used some of them!
I should also mention that the fabulous Melissa Phillips is the guest designer this week at The Shabby Tea Room. She has her own little inspiration challenge, which currently centers around this gorgeous photo, which I took as a springboard for the colors in my card (didn't stick with the scheme exactly, but that's what an inspiration photo is for, right? a starting point....my creation is decidedly using the shabby-vintage version of this color scheme...;)
So, working up from the bottom layer... the light blue patterned paper is an ancient Anna Griffin design. Next up are two scraps from a "Couture Pack" of paper by Autumn Leaves. The stripe is actually a little altered piece I made - I had stamped various Cornish Heritage Farms stamps on it and clear embossed them, then ran over the whole thing with a brayer and brown ink of some kind. I was trying to come up with an idea for the CHF Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge using "resist" way back when, but decided to go in an entirely different direction. I saved that little experiment, though, and here it is making it's debut, LOL! The music is vintage, already torn and left over from THIS project. Even my Tree Swallows image is a leftover..... it's an extra from THIS artist trading card project months ago. I had made extras, just in case.... For the flower fringe around the image, I took some inspiration from the gorgeous Prima trim I used in THIS project, and made my own, coloring some Prima flowers with my Copics, folding them in half, and affixing them to the back of the image. A scrap of twill tape, shabbied up, is the base for the sentiment (Hero Arts). My tape was gleaming white, and I didn't have time to tea-dye some, so I cheated: I just ran the pad of Antique Linen Distress ink over it, then ran the edges over the Tea Dye pad and presto! This is a good technique to use in a pinch if you only need a little snippet of twill. And that's it. Everything old is new again. So try it out.... it's fun... you know you've been meaning to use those scraps.... so go on now, do it! ;)

Stamp of the Month
It's April 1st, so that means it's time for another Stamp of the Month from Cornish Heritage Farms (and that's no foolin'!). This month's image is Fawn in the Grove - a delicate and delightful little spring scene. I've paired it here with the Trees backgrounder and a sentiment from the Ornamental Beauty set. I colored the image with Copics, making sure I preserved some white spots on this little fawn's back.:) I nestled her amongst some white birch trees - reminds me of where I grew up in northeastern PA. The leaves are from a big box flower sprig (I always save both the leaves and the petals - ya never know when you'll want some leaves, too). A little twine ties it all up in a rustic sort of way. As always, there will be lots more samples in the gallery.
Happy April Fools Day to my U.S. friends (if you can really say it's happy..?)! Hope you don't get fooled too badly! ;)
